Whoops!
As i tweeted on identi.ca (http://identi.ca/notice/6123909), cutting the tie-wraps went a bit wrong!
Quickly reconnected the two ends with a screw terminal, but once i got the new 3Com 5-port Gbit switch 3CGSU05A mounted to the wall (connected to the 3CGSU08A 8-port Gbit switch), having the Cat 5E or Cat 6 patch cables ready too, i’ll solder it decently and cover with some heat-shrink tubing, wrapping it together with tie-wraps again.
Expected downtime for that will be somewhere in the middle of the night, and i’ll monitor the server and network to make sure everyone, really everyone’s sleeping. I’ll post some pictures a few days after.
